Today, November 17, KCA DEUTAG, one of the world’s largest international drilling contractors, announced it had been awarded a contract in Northern Poland by Gora Energy Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of San Leon Energy. The announcement follows KCA DEUTAG’s recent entry into the Polish market through a contract with Marathon Petroleum Poland, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corporation.

KCA DEUTAG is pleased to announce two senior appointments to facilitate further business growth. With immediate effect, Norman McKay will join KCA DEUTAG as Chairman. Mr McKay brings over thirty years of global experience in the oilfield service industry where his previous position was president of Smith Technologies. Prior to this, following 24 years with Schlumberger in a variety of positions around the world, Mr McKay was president of Exterran’s Eastern Hemisphere operations. He graduated with an honours degree in chemical engineering from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. Alex Knaster will step down as chairman but will remain on the Board as director.

Today, KCA Deutag announced it has been awarded a major contract, by TAQA Bratani, to supply platform drilling and maintenance services to four North Sea drilling platforms (Eider, Tern, North Cormorant and Cormorant Alpha). The primary term of this contract is three years and the award represents nine figure associated revenue.

Today (4th September), KCA DEUTAG announced imminent entry into the Polish market and unconventionals sector after successfully securing a contract with Marathon Petroleum Poland, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO). The contract is to drill four shale gas wells with a future option of seven additional wells. Operations will begin next month using KCA DEUTAG’s 1500HP EURO-rig, the T-207.

Today (Thursday 4th August 2011), KCA DEUTAG announced it has acquired Global Tender Barges Pte Ltd (“GTB”) by increasing its shareholding from 10 to 100%. GTB based in Singapore owns three self-erect tender barges, the Global Emerald, Global Jade and Global Sapphire, which KCA DEUTAG has operated on behalf of GTB, since early 2008, under a management services agreement providing drilling operations, maintenance, procurement and other services connected with the offshore operations.
